If you do not have an hourglass shape the waist may not fit. I am a size 16 but my waist is an 18. So while I LOVE these jeans as far as comfort, quality and fit from below my bellybutton down, I have to order a size up just for the waist. Man I miss my teenage waist! 😂🫤🙄
The only caveat in this scenario is I have learned that buying the larger sizes is that I can have the items tailored for a semi bespoke garment. Keep this in mind when you go to order that reallllly cute piece of clothing and they only have larger sizes available, you can still buy it and then have it tailored to fit only YOUR gorgeous bod! 🥰😘☺️

Love these jeans. I wear them 340 days of the year! Good fit & the bit of stretch makes them both comfortable & flattering

  3. Gradyr

Very comfortable and length is ideal for flats or med heeled shoe. Haven’t washed them yet so can’t speak about the possibility of shrinkage.

Listen up all you pear shaped ladies. These jeans are so flattering on anyone with an ample derrière.
I’m 5 feet 8.5 inches. 165 lbs. Happily pear shaped. I ordered a size twelve. Did not want to take them off. Will order in white and black. Must have wardrobe stable if you struggle with pants/jeans. The slight flare at the bottom really balances out the larger hip thing. They are very comfortable and have a lot of stretch. Fit was spot on which is so rare for me.

I’ve been buying these jeans for years. I love them…I like the fact that they come up to my waist. They are comfortable and wear very well! Highly recommend!

I’ve ordered those in size 14 although I’m mostly a size 12 for pants, so they do run a bit small. Decent fit though they are a little snug but I put some weight on lately so this needs to come off me soon and I expect they will fit me better. They are also way too long but that’s a U.S. jeans sizes issue I’m faced with all the time. Most brands have weird lengths so regular ones are 31 inseam, petite are 29 and tall are 31.5 or more. I’m 30 inseam so there is nothing perfect for me. Those are very long jeans, inseam is 33 inches so if you have very long legs this is great. I’m just going to shorten them so it’s fine.

But overall they are a very nice dark wash, wide leg, they look like trousers so I feel comfortable to wear them at work even though we have a more formal dress code. All in all, a very nice pair of jeans that are worth the price.

These are the jeans I’ve been looking for since I turned 49 and my waist curve disappeared from the front. I’m 55, 5’6″ and 145 lbs. I have something in the basement and attic but no hips or thighs. I also have a long torso. The skinny jean and legging phase have been awful!!
It is obvious women designed these. They rise higher in the front (These above my navel, but I also have a pair in Cooper that are just below it). Then they drop lower in the back, highlighting my narrow waist, which still exists back there. They lift my booty, tuck my gut, and balance my legs out perfectly! I look 2 sizes smaller and 2 inches taller!
The fabric is very comfortable. This pair has a little more stretch than the Cooper color. And I love it. These are high craftsmanship and the seams are all tight . The butt and thigh seam placement make me look nice and curvy while still slender.
Will be a loyal and repeat customer. Worth every penny!
I should add I got a size 8. In AE and Levi I’ve been buying size 10.

Very few brands live-up to their name and in this case, “Not Your Daughters Jeans” live up to the name. Finding jeans nowadays is a complete crap shoot. Highwaisted? Low rise? Flare? Bootcut? Straight? Skinny? I just want a pair of jeans I can sit down in, thank you.

I recently lost about 100lbs from the day I gave birth to now. I also had a C-Section, so I’ve got a lovely role of “Formerly Occupied by a 10 lb Infant” flab. I also have very skinny legs and no bum which doesn’t change regardless of how much I weigh. Long story short, after I finally abandoning my pre-pregnancy and postpartum jeans, I ordered a pair of the “Barbara Bootcut Fit” from NYDJ. They are *definitely* vanity sized because I am a 16 in trousers because of the baby pooch (RIP stomach), but I ordered a 14 and they are SO COMFORTABLE. The wash is perfect, the waist and fit is great, I don’t feel pressure and they don’t give me the trots (TMI, sorry, yay IBS). My bum looks AMAZING and so do my bird legs. My husband is obsessed with them which is totally weird because I could walk into a room wearing a paper bag and I don’t think he’d notice, so that’s something.

Long story short: invest in yourselves, ladies. These are comfortable, they fit well, they’re clearly made by people who know women’s bodies and all the various ways they change. I almost bought a $120 pair from somewhere else before I bought these and tbh, I’d spend $120 on my next pair of these baddies.

NYDJ jeans are my favorite but there are exceptions. I always order the “Barbara” cut but the style alone doesn’t guarantee satisfaction. I have several pair in different shades of blue and black and although they are all Barbara cut the fit changes depending on the color. I’m assuming that’s because different colors come in different material. My first three pair were all the same color and all fit the same. After that I ordered three more pair. Two in “Cooper” and one in black. The Cooper pairs are much thinner material and don’t fit nearly as well as my first three of “Heyburn”. The black pair is heavier material like the Heyburn but doesn’t fit quite as well but still much better than the Coopers do. The thinner pairs get baggy and aren’t flattering at all. Since these are very hit or miss for fit I suggest once you learn which shade works best for you stay with it. When they’re good they’re very, very good and look and feel great.

UPDATE TO REVIEW: I am very unhappy with my last pair. They have a VERY STRONG odor. It reminds me of high school (45 years ago) science class. We had to dissect frogs (yes that was a thing 45 years ago) that were kept in jars of formaldehyde. I don’t know what the smell is but it smells just like formaldehyde and I can’t get it out. I’ve washed these jeans 4 times and they still reek of whatever this is. I’m really angry because these are not cheap jeans. I should have returned them when I first received my order but I thought the smell would wash out. If you buy a pair and they have this odor return them our you’ll be throwing them away too.

I like these jeans a lot. They are long enough for me, which is often a problem for me. I am tall, and slim, though not skinny any more! They are form fitting and very comfortable; not a heavy weight denim. The only thing I dislike is they are too long! That is a first for me. Comfortable though, and they look good, so am hemming them. The Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Women’s corduroy Francine Bootcut Jean is very nice to thought the buttons on the back pockets are a bit loud – but they are comfortable and I usually wear a sweater or jacket which would cover them (this is just a very picky point; anyone I have shown them to doesn’t mind). The Hayden is nice too – but have queer looking belt loops in the front. The length is perfect though, usually they are too short for me. I buy an 8 in this jean, and am a 10 usually.

Love my NYDJ jeans! Been wearing them for years. Quality material. I won’t wear any other brand. I wanted a deeper blue and this one was a nice blue! I wear between a size 12 and 14 depending on the cut, but this one fit perfect. And I do love the bootcut jeans. I’m 5’5″ and this jeans ran longer on me (even after washing and drying in warm temperatures) but fits well wearing a 2″ heel. It’s a comfortable fit, little snug but stretchy, which I like too. Definitely recommend this in this blue color if you want a deeper blue jeans.

These are great jeans, but the sizing is different depending on the color you purchase. I am a consistent size 2 in NYDJ (Teresa in Burbank wash and Barbara in Burbank wash), but in the black the size 2 was so small that I couldn’t button them. They were also about 2 inches longer than the ones in Burbank wash. I think a 4 would have fit in the waist, but they were just way too long so I returned them and didn’t reorder the larger size. In the Burbank wash, they are really nice and a great lightweight denim material. The black material is thicker and also nice, but does run small and long. FYI: When I say that they run small, I mean they run small for NYDJs — which usually require sizing down at least one size if not two (I size down 2 sizes typically). The black ones are probably closer to true to size or just slightly sized down compared to other NYDJ jeans that I own.

  13. Calico Cat

You can’t beat NYDJ jeans for fit. I have them in 3 colours.

  14. D Kramer

Nice quality. Make sure you size down.

  15. C T

I love these except the regular is too short. I’m 5’9 155 lbs and the 8 long would be perfect. I tried the 6 but that was a bit tight at the waist. 8 is my normal size so I’m not sure why everyone said size down – I guess if you like super tight jeans.

  16. LaBab

Why why why are different colors different sizes? I bought a Cooper and a dark enzyme both in a size 14. The dark enzyme color is shorter and significantly larger size than the cooper! At this price point I should’ve able to expect consistent sizing. Ordinarily I wear a 16 and even after sizing down to a 14, these jeans are both too big. They also tend to get bigger as they are worn for a day. Not sure I want to try to order a 12 since the sizing is so inconsistent. I used to love NYDJ but what has happened to this brand?

  17. DJ

These fit perfectly! Have just a little stretch to them, which I like. The 31” inseam is just right, as I’m 5’8”. Wish they had more colors for spring.

  18. T. Galtelli

These are great! True to size and comfortable.

  19. Lester S Dixon

I love these jeans! They are comfy, flattering, and fit well. I also had to go down a size.

  20. dennis

    Nice quality
    Permit fit
    A little costly

  21. Katie Dineen

There is a wild disparity in how one size fits. I ordered 2 pairs of Barbara boot cut jeans in size 8. The “Cooper” pair was ridiculously small. I couldn’t even get them over my hips. The “Enzyme” pair fit beautifully. How can one size be so different? The same thing happened a few years ago. I thought it was an anomaly but apparently this is how NYDJ works.

  22. Dixie Smith

These aren’t petite. Fitted everywhere but the length. I had to cut them off and hem them.
