Nice weight of fabric, but more of a canvas than denim, as I expected. Heavy fabric makes belt/bow a bit thick. I have some other “paper bag” skirts and they are made of a lighter fabric. I do think this style gathers better at waist when using lighter fabric. Easy to step into; pockets in good place. Looks crisp. My only gripe is that skirt is shorter than desired; an inch or two longer would definitely be a 5 Star skirt.

I like the fit and style of this skirt a lot. But there are problems with the stitching, which is very evident on the dark denim. I had to send one back, but reorded and I was able to make the next one work with a little clipping and pulling of stray and excess threads.

Fits really well at the waist and hips and the length comes a couple of inches above my knees. It is not binding at the waist at all. If you have a smaller waist you can cinch it by tying the belt a little tighter. Have not washed it yet so I don’t know if it will shrink or not. I’d say this is medium weight denim. Ok for summer or fall (MN) and possibly winter with tights. I will be ordering another after I submit this review. Highly recommend!

The skirt literally stinks. When I took it out of the bag it arrived in, it smelled so strongly of mothballs that gave me a headache. I’ve washed it three times. I tried soaking it for 24 hours and a vinegar water mix. And it’s still wreaks of mothballs. The the mothball stench can be smelled in the entire room. I’m definitely not going to be able to wear this anywhere as long as this smell stays in the fabric.
